Huanacaxtle wood or better known as Parota comes from the tropics of Mexico, Central America and northern South America, which is why it is considered a tropical wood.
These trees have several characteristics, but the most notable are: their large dimensions, extravagant colors and magnificent shapes.
Size: These trees are considered large since they measure about 30 to 45m in height and 3m in diameter.
Colors: Colors can range from a bright light brown to brown. Making each of the pieces that are sold unique and unrepeatable.
Durability: This wood is considered very resistant even to some insects, taking advantage of other woods such as red oak that has low resistance to insects.
Veins: As well as the different sizes and colors, this wood is characterized by having many veins thanks to its rapid growth, giving each piece a special characteristic.
Sustainability: Due to its fast growing properties, the Parota is a highly sustainable harvested species, it is a relatively resistant tree, which makes it common in reforestation projects and it is not listed in the CITES Appendices (Convention on International Trade in Species Endangered Wild Fauna and Flora,) nor on the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) list of threatened species.
Thanks to all these characteristics, Parota is currently considered a great option for the manufacture of home furniture.
